Sharpening your FP7 skills: how to write a competitive proposal (5th June 2007)

The Euro Info Centre at Malta Enterprise, in collaboration with PROMPT, is organising a training session on "How to write a competitive proposal for FP7" which will include a seminar due to take place on Thursday, 28th June 2007 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard.

Programme

The programme will have quite an innovative format in the sense that it includes a 2-week e-learning course [tentatively between 13th – 27th June], with a practical hands-on workshop on the 28th June.  In this way the theoretical issues will be addressed beforehand electronically and the focus of the workshop will be entirely on practice and discussion!

The aim of this event is to train entrepreneurs, research managers and administrative or financial executives in writing professional and competitive proposals for FP7. The course describes the relevance of FP7 to EU policies, the common issues in proposal writing and the success criteria for proposals. It also provides tips on how to collect information, how to select strategic partners and how to avoid duplication in proposal writing. The final section describes a strategy for proposal writing, with the concrete objective to strengthen your chance to see your proposals accepted by the European Commission.

Trainer Profile

The training will be held and moderated by Mr. Balazs Bodo, the CEO of Geonardo in Hungary, who has personally developed, managed and coordinated dozens of projects under the predecessors of FP7 and CIP.  He has evaluated numerous project proposals under FP6 and e-TEN and as such has a sound understanding of the evaluation process of both programmes.  As a lecturer he has been training participants for over 5 years.  Training locations include 3 continents, from Bucharest to Paris, from Istanbul to Zagreb, from Lisbon to Sydney.  A key to his success as trainer is that his lectures are 100% based on real life experiences drawing from the dozens of projects he has personally coordinated and managed.  As a consultant he is responsible for the success of dozens of projects in areas as diverse as health, food, IT and social sciences.

Recent surveys have highlighted the following peculiarities regarding the participation in Framework Programmes of companies from the new Member States:

  • They often play a second-rate role in the implementation of the project with lesser budgets;
  • They hardly ever learn to develop and manage projects on their own (therefore success rates will not improve and thus remain the same for the forthcoming framework programmes)
  • They experience overall disappointment and frustration with Framework Programmes.

The Euro Info Centre has also received such reactions from Maltese clients and it is because of this that this intensive training programme is being held. It is hoped that you will be able to attend and prepare yourself for the next round of FP7 calls.

Seminar places are limited to 30 and will be attributed on a first-come-first-served basis.
